From TSN:
Toronto Maple Leafs interim general manager Cliff Fletcher says he's found the man he wants to coach the team and has offered him the job. Fletcher would not name the candidate, but sources tell TSN that former Sharls coach Ron Wilson is on his way to Toronto to meet Leafs officials.
Here is the full story.
It is hard to analyze this hiring because who will be on the ice playing for the Leafs next year is really anyone's guess. Will Mats Sundin be back? Will the team have an organizational youth movement? Who knows???? Regardless of that, unless the Leafs have a GM in line that will eventually get the job, I never understand why teams hire coaches before general managers. It just does not make a whole lot of sense to me.
