Wellwood won't be offered contract by Leafs

From Dave Shoalts of the Globe & Mail:

Cliff Fletcher has a long list of potential player moves to address in the next
seven days, but the only thing certain right now is that Kyle Wellwood's days
with the Toronto Maple Leafs are finished and Bryan McCabe's may not be.

Wellwood certainly had a disappointing season last year. He was injured much of the season and was said to not be in very good shape heading into the season. That said, he is still a talent, something the Leafs lack, and could be a valuable asset on some team's second power play unit. I'm not quite sure why the Leafs would let him go for nothing.

Ballhype: hype it up!

This is a completely pathetik move by the leafs. Wellwood when healthy is a rare yonge talent that can help the rebuild process for the leafs. Whoever picks him up on waivers will be a lucky team getting a skilled player giving up nothing in return!!!
