Hurricanes intent on buying out Tanabe and Hamilton

From Luke Decock of the News & Observer:

The Hurricanes have placed David Tanabe and Jeff Hamilton on waivers with the
intention of buying out their contracts.

Read his short entry here.

These players are replaceable for the Hurricanes. Tanabe didn't add much to their defense, and while Hamilton did play well on the power play point for a time last season, they obviously feel like his offensive production isn't worth keeping around.

Ballhype: hype it up!

Does anyone actually know where Raleigh, North Carolina is? Does it truly exist and if so, why are the Hartford Whalers playing there?

Raleigh, NC lies in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. And the Hartford Whalers are playing in Raleigh because a lot of more-or-less wealthy Northerners have been relocating to the South (and the Raleigh Triangle area) in steady numbers since the 1990s.
