From John Vogl of the Buffalo News:
One forward the Sabres have discussed internally about moving is right wing Maxim Afinogenov. External discussions have yet to blossom.
“From the trade standpoint and interest,” Regier said, “my conversations with different clubs is everyone is assessing their needs and assessing what they’re looking to do more positionally, as opposed to, ‘Will you move this guy or this guy?’ I think as we get closer to the draft that will pick up.”
Read the entire piece here.
With their depth at forward, and need on defense, I think a Maxim Afinogenov deal may go down closer to the draft. Teams that have a logjam on defense fit as logical trade partners. Edmonton anyone???

Edmonton anyone???
I'm going to assume that was sarcasm, because I doubt Kevin Lowe is anywhere on the list of people that Darcy Regier can talk civilly to.
Anytime I toss out an Edmonton anyone reference, it is always a little sarcasm...
Islanders would certainly love to have this guy! Me, as an Islander die-hard, and Islanders intern, would LOVE to see my team acquire Maxim Afinogenov
The Islanders have 10 picks in this years draft..would a combo of picks be enough to land Afinogenov? They could also include a defenseman like Campoli or Gervais, even though I really like both...but say:
Islanders get:
RW Maxim Afinogenov
Sabres get:
D Bruno Gervais
a pick or two
Fair??
