The Hurricanes have yet to decide who will be their back-up netminder

From Luke Decock of the News Observer:

Michael Leighton is the front-runner to take over after an MVP-caliber season in the AHL, but the fact that the Canes have yet to re-sign Leighton, who will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the month, is a clear indication the matter remains up for debate.

With the way Leighton played in the AHL last season, it seems fairly likely that the Hurricanes will let him compete for the back-up spot on their roster. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they brought in some competition to make him work hard to earn that spot.

Ballhype: hype it up!
