From Fluto Shinwaza of the Boston Globe:
The Bruins have placed Glen Murray on unconditional waivers, the first step of the buyout process.
If Murray goes unclaimed and the Bruins complete the buyout, they will trim $2,766,667 from their 2008-09 cap hit, bringing their current number down to $55,469,999. They will carry Murray's remaining money of $1,383,333 on their 2009-10 payroll.

No chance that Murray gets claimed on waivers. Considering his production, Murray's contract is far too expensive for anyone to take on. The veteran winger will be bought out by the Bruins then free to shop his services wherever he wants. I wonder if the Sharks will try and buy low on Joe Thornton's former linemate...
