Dean Lombardi lowers expectations for Terry Murray

From Lisa Dillman of the L.A. Times:

Lombardi called Murray's new assignment the "toughest job in the NHL."

"He might as well have said: 'Well, Terry, we're not in Philadelphia anymore.' Even if Bobby Clarke of the Flyers did send Kings assistant GM Ron Hextall a text message, saying: "Flyers West."

Lombardi is trying to ease the pressure on Murray in his first season on the job with this young club. That said, the Kings have loads of talent everywhere but in goal, so this job shouldn't be as tough as Lombardi is making it out to be.

Ballhype: hype it up!

Not a fan of Labarbera, I take it?

The biggest issue with the Kings is going to be their defense- Matt Greene has a legit shot at being on their top-line shut-down pairing, which is all I really need to say on the matter.

I agree that their defense isn't strong (although they defensive prospects are tremendous), but I think Doughty will make that team and they might as well give him and Johnson lots of ice-time.

Im sure they can't wait for Tuebert and Hickey to crack their line-up because Denis Gauthier just won't cut it.

Yeah, they have great prospects, but it's going to be a couple of years before they round into form.
